Why don't they put seat belts on potty's?

I have been flirting with the idea of potty training Grace. She doesn't have a whole lot of language skills but she is getting more every day. I have always felt that one of the biggest parts of potty training was the kid being able to verbalize the need to go. I decided to give it a try any way. So i put a potty out in the living room on Thursday. It wasn't long before i discovered that grace has a bigger obstacle than words. She wont sit for longer than 2 seconds. She certainly isn't willing to hold still long enough to do what needs to be done. But on the bright side... I put some panties on her and she stayed dry all afternoon. She finally wet her pants when she was sitting in her high chair(probably because she was sitting still) at dinner.

Any one who has potty trained a Tasmanian devil, please share your technique. Any advice is welcome!!!

Asprin. Lots and lots of asprin.

Also, we did the "Potty Train In Less Than A Day" thing with Erin. Constantly asking her if she's dry, having her check herself, and then making lots of trips to the bathroom. Practicing pulling down the pants and putting the back up. And providing rewards, usually some kind of drink to increase her need to potty. Start out at 15 minute intervals and then slowly increase it. Erin didn't do fantastic with all of the motivational tactics in the book so I had to make up some of my own because, duh, every kid is different. Anyway, it was a fantastic guideline. I have to book if you want to borrow it.

And, good luck!

My technique is to wait until they're older and they have some motivation to do it. Which is why Roman is now not potty training simply because he doesn't want to, even though he can and he actually knows what to do. After 3 kids I simply don't have the energy to fight. So I'm no good with help. But good luck!

We did the same thing as Ralphie, Potty Train in a Day. We modified a little for our needs, but it worked for us.
